HE SAID SHE SAID MANTLE

So, I am the last person to cover something in words, I know.  I'm okay being a follower, when it is all you super cool, creative bloggers that I am following.  I did change things up  though.  I am a rule follower  (see I told you I am a follower) AND CAN NOT IMAGINE DESTROYING A BOOK.  I am not judging anyone who has, I just can't.  So this is my version, I went though all the Valentine's Day cards that Sweet Daddy and I have given each other over the years and picked out my favorites.

I copied the things out of them that we had written to each other.

After I had all of my copies, I gathered my trusted jar of Mod Podge and a paint brush.

I ripped  around all the edges, because I didn't want any straight lines.

Then I recycled some cardboard into a heart form.

I started by covering all the edges, so that when I started applying the writing I wouldn't have to worry about the edges.

Next, I randomly placed the pieces.

I hung it with ribbon over the girls hand hearts.

I love that our words to each other are on display this Valentine's Day.  It was so much fun to go back and read them all,  there is one up there from before we were married.  I love my Valentine and treasure his words to me,  his love was mine yesterday, it is mine today and will be mine tomorrow.  I am blessed.

I hope you all have a Happy Valentine's Day and if you don't have a special someone yet, remimber you always have Him.

Ok, will you allow me to be a little crazy for a minute??? I just left your blog to leave you a comment and thank you for your words, right?!? I then went straight to LPM Blog to get ready for our study kick off and just so happened to scroll all the way to the comments and "Cha Cha" was the first comment on the post. Considering that there are about 1000 people a day that leave comments on her blog, I think it incredibly coicidental that your name was the first one there...right after I had just left your blog and thanked God for your comment. Whether you believe it or not Miss Cha Cha, I do believe God is up to something here...I intend on praying about it!
Love,
Amy

I love your He said/She said heart. What a great idea. Jeff and I became engaged on Valentines day and that day has such meaning for us. I definitely need to try this!

I would love to do something with the little notes the kids leave me! Have a great night!

ah how fun! yeah i prob wouldn't want some of mine finding me on here either...haha! You know how it goes! I love your kitchen. Did you paint your cabinets? Also is it granite or corian? I'm looking to remodel soon.

Cha Cha said...

Yes, we painted our top cabinet and restain the bottom ones ebony. It is granite, and I love it, so glad that that is what I decided on. I plan to post about the kitchen in the near future, I know I have said it before, but I have aready started writting it. Maybe the first part will be next week. It was a very involved process, so it is hard to just get it on paper. Have a great week.

It's Darling! (Be careful about destroying old books. I used to think I could never do it, but once I got started I can't stop!) Lisa~ www.livingmybestlifeii-lisa.blogspot.com

I don't think it would have the same effect cutting out all the nice word Hallmark wrote for my husband.

That is such a wonderful idea. I am going to start a book full of sweet letters my boyfriend gives me, so maybe one day I can do this. We have been best friends since we were 5, so I'm sure I can go back and gather. You have shown me it's important to keep them all in one place.

Very sweet. And I love that you just used cardboard and didn't buy something special for it.

Hi Cha Cha-
I love when I see something so simple, yet looks terrific and in this case - lots of meaning to you and your husband. I like the way you hung it sort of angled. It looks like a Tiffany heart necklace for your mantel.
Happy Valentines Day
